Experiment 3. Heat-capacity Ratios for Gases

چکیده
In considering the theoretical calculation of the heat capacities of gases, we shall only be concerned with perfect gases. Since Ĉp = Ĉv + R for an ideal gas (where Ĉp and Ĉv are the molar quantities Cp/N and Cv/N), our discussion can be restricted to Cv. The number of "degrees of freedom" for a molecule is the number of independent coordinates needed to specify its position and configuration. Hence a molecule of n atoms has 3n degrees of freedom. These could be taken as the three cartesian coordinates of the n individual atoms, but it is more convenient to classify them as follows:

Experimental Investigation of the EGR Temperature Effects on the Destruction of the Fuel’s Availability Due to Combustion Processes in IDI Diesel Engine Cylinder
In this study a heat exchanger is designed for cooling exhaust gas and an experiment is carried out to investigate the effect of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) temperature on destruction of the fuel’s availability due to combustion processes in IDI diesel engine cylinder. To serve this aim an exergy analysis is conducted on the engine cylinder which provides all the availability terms by which...
متن کاملA Correlation for the Prediction of the Adiabatic Joule-Thomson Coefficient of Pure Gases and Gas Mixtures
A correlation based on the general form of cubic equations of state has been derived. This equation provides a convenient mathematical form of the Joule-Thomson coefficient in terms of the state variable V and T. The Joule-Thomson coefficient calculated by this correlation has been compared with experimental data. It has been shown that the Redilich-Kwang equation of state is a suitable equ...
متن کاملAnalysis of heat waves temporal fluctuation in North - West region of Iran and their relationship with greenhouse gases and global land-ocean temperature anomalies
The heat waves today are one of the most important climatic hazards in the world. According to many scientists, the Severe and frequent occurrence of heat waves in recent years has been due to the emission of greenhouse gases and consequent increased global warming. The purpose of this study is to investigate changes in the frequency and intensity of heat waves As well as their relationship wit...
متن کاملUniversal Thermodynamics of a Strongly Interacting Fermi Gas
We study the properties of an optically-trapped, Fermi gas of Li atoms, near the center of a broad Feshbach resonance, where strong interactions are observed. Strongly interacting Fermi gases exhibit universal behavior, and are of interest as models of exotic systems ranging from high temperature superconductors to neutron stars and quark-gluon plasmas. We measure the frequency and damping rate...
متن کاملHigh-Temperature Adiabatic Calorimeter for Constant-Volume Heat Capacity Measurements of Compressed Gases and Liquids
A high-temperature adiabatic calorimeter has been developed to measure the constant-volume specific heat capacities (cV ) of both gases and liquids, especially fluids of interest to emerging energy technologies. The chief design feature is its nearly identical twin bomb arrangement, which allows accurate measurement of energy differences without large corrections for energy losses due to therma...
